About The Facilitators

MEET THE FACILITATORs:
 Rachel (Sia Jane)

Rachel, is a 31 year old graduate student.
She completed a degree in Media and Culture Communications in 2008, and is currently studying for her post-graduate conversion course in Psychology, through The Open University.
Following completion of this in 2012, she will apply for her PHD in Clinical Psychology.
She ultimately wants to work as a psychotherapist in the field of eating disorders, trauma and self-injury.

Rachel is a sexual abuse survivor and is recovered from Anorexia Nervosa.
Her battles started as a teenager, and for a number of years her life was controlled by disorder, obsession and suffering.
Rachel suffered with depression and mania, self-injury and over-exercise, suicide attempts and isolation.
By the time of her 21st birthday she was barely recognisable to the girl she was years before.

Rachel has experienced a number of in patient stays in hospital, various therapies including DBT and psychotherapy, and has worked for a long time in one-to-one therapy with a trusted and renowned therapist.
She remains on medication and continues to live a recovered life.

Her inspiration for working within mental health, is from two long-standing therapists who always believed in her recovery.
Her family and girlfriend have proved to be her greatest source of love and support, and are a large part of her success in recovery and happiness.

Rachel enjoys a wide range of films and books, loves her two kitty cats and has a slightly unhealthy addiction to shoes, clothes and 90210!
